TA Requirements

Congratulations on receiving a Teaching Assistantship! We look forward to you joining the campus community and wish you every success in your growth as a teacher, public speaker, presenter and scholar.

REQUIREMENTS FOR GRADUATE TEACHING ASSISTANTS:

1. Get a NetID

All GAs/TAs need a NetID. NetID is required for all Graduate College online forms, online training, registration for GATO, Webmail , EmployeeLink and many other services at the University of Arizona.

Incoming international graduate students can get a NetID in approximately 2 to 3 weeks after registering for international student orientation here: International Student Programs Services 

2. Register for Graduate Assistants in Teaching Orientation (GATO)

The University Teaching Center coordinates a one-day orientation program designed to acquaint first-time TAs at the University of Arizona. The orientation program focuses on learner-centered teaching methodology and culturally responsive teaching strategies. More about GATO.

3. Register for TA Training Online (TATO) Deadline for completion: 30 August 2009.

All TAs are required to pass the UA Policies module test (95% or higher). TATO is self-paced and available at any time to anyone who registers and has a valid NetID. The Graduate College monitors scores. Questions should be directed to tato@email.arizona.edu

4. Attend GATO
